Dignity in Care Train the Trainer

(one day course)

Time: All Day

Target Audience:

This programme is aimed at managers, seniors, team leaders and/or training co-ordinators working within a regulated care setting.  For example, residential or nursing care homes for older people and adults with a learning disability or mental ill-health, domiciliary care or supported living in Leicestershire and Leicester City.

Please note that only staff who have undertaken training in Dignity in Care within their organisations and/or have completed the Council’s e-learning dignity in care module should attend.

All participants will be expected to deliver a sample of their training to the rest of the group during the course of the day so please consider carefully your nominations.  This course would be ideally suited to:

  • Individuals that are currently facilitating and delivering training as part of their day to day role;
  • Individuals that are confident to deliver training within a group setting and will be responsible for the delivery of dignity training.

Aim:

  • The Target Group will be expected to deliver the information/training to their own staff group;
  • These workshops will help to promote and embed the delivery of dignified practices within establishments/communities;
  • To enable and support staff to understand the importance of and to deliver a dignified service to those they support.
  • Objectives:
  • To develop your own interpersonal and training skills to deliver effective training;
  • To develop the skills in your staff group to challenge poor practice and acknowledge and encourage good practice;
  • To develop skills to motivate staff to deliver a dignified service;
  • Adopt different styles of delivery to facilitate learning;
  • Think about what is a good and a bad training session;
  • To be given the resources and tools to take back to your establishment to use as a basis for your own training.Please note that a Compliance Officer, Quality Improvement with the lead for the Dignity in Care Award will be joining us to provide information on Leicestershire County Council’s Dignity Award, the role of the Dignity Champion and how you can utilise your learning today to support staff to become effective Champions and evidence your best practice. Dates and venues available

Leicestershire Partnership Trust are delivering free training for delegated health tasks to social care staff commencing from April 2018.

Health and Social Care Protocol

The purpose of the Protocol is to promote constructive co-operation between staff of different agencies in the interests of good quality care for individuals.  The Protocol sets out the responsibilities of the NHS that, with the right oversight and training, can be delivered by social care agencies, whilst remaining the responsibility of the NHS.  Implicit in this working arrangement is the understanding and expectation that the health agencies will also deliver services that primarily the remit of social care.  Put simply, the overriding principle is :

“If you are there and competent to do it, you do it”

The protocol is a working document which will be updated as new situations arise, are resolved and become absorbed into standard practice.

To complete the passport the training requires you to attend 2 1/2 days, this can be completed in any order.

  • Core Generic Healthcare Tasks – Full Day Core Skills 1 – 6 in the Training Passport).
  • Generic Healthcare Tasks A – Full Day (Generic Skills 7 – 11 & 14 in Training Passport).
  • Generic Healthcare Tasks B – Half Day ( Generic Skills 12 – 13 in Training Passport).
  • These training session are fully funded however non attendance of any sessions will incur a charge as follows;
  •  £50 for a half day
  • £100 for a full day

Autism in Practice: Assessing and Care Planning with Autistic adults

(one day course)

AIMS and OBJECTIVES:

 

  • Develop key skills for communicating effectively with autistic adults

 

  • Develop enhanced awareness of autism specific issues in assessment and appropriate adaptations in the context of Care Act

 

  • Develop an Increased understanding of eligibility decision making for autistic adults

 

  • Develop advanced skills in person-centered care and support planning and reviews with autistic clients

 

  • Develop enhanced awareness of autism specific issues in capacity assessment and best interest’s decision making in the context of the Mental Capacity Act

 

  • Develop enhanced awareness of autism specific issues in safeguarding including issues around sex

 

  • Increase skills in managing risk with autistic clients: reflecting on neurotypical assumptions in decision making

 

  • Know what other materials can be accessed and where, to find out more information for own professional development
