This course provides an introduction to the main standard precaution areas for Infection Prevention and Control within care environments.

This E-Learning module will take approximately 60 minutes

The material in the module has been completed collaboratively by members of the Local Authority Community Infection Prevention and Control Service and the Leicestershire Social Care Development Group.

Learning Outcomes from the module:

  • Understand what an infection is and how it can be transferred from person to person
  • Explore what is meant by the term ‘standard precautions’
  • Develop an understanding of how to work in a manner that minimises the risk of spreading an infection in the care environment
